Olive oil for peace and sustainable development'

On 24 September 2024, the international conference ‘Olive oil for peace and sustainable development’ will be held in Zaragoza in hybrid format. It is an activity organised by the CIHEAM Zaragoza (Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza), with the collaboration of the University of Zaragoza.

CIHEAM Zaragoza, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace, wishes to commemorate the International Day of Peace, which is celebrated every year on 21 September.

This day is linked to the OLIB project ‘Strengthening sustainable local development and coexistence in Lebanon by improving the yield and productivity of olive trees’, coordinated by CIHEAM Zaragoza and financed by the Zaragoza Provincial Council.

The conference will host a debate forum on the role of the olive grove and olive oil sector in promoting efficient and sustainable social and economic development, as well as a round table with NGOs to present and reflect on different initiatives and activities of agri-food cooperation that promote a culture of peace.
