Ovibeja, the most awaited agricultural event in Alentejo, returned from April 30 to May 5, 2024 for its 40th edition at the Manuel de Castro e Brito Fair and Exhibition Park in Beja. With the theme “40 years of Associativism”, this year's congress highlighted the collaboration and joint work of the agricultural sector.
Organized by the Alentejo Farmers' Association (ACOS), Ovibeja highlighted the fundamental role of associativism in promoting results, sharing resources and knowledge, and overcoming common challenges. At a time when business and rural sustainability are urgent priorities, reflection on the role of associations as advocates of agriculture and forestry is crucial.
And the Olive Oil World Congress (OOWC), one of the most important events in the olive oil calendar, could not miss this event. Ricardo Migueláñez, general coordinator of the OOWC, presented on May 4 this international congress that will bring together experts and professionals to discuss the latest advances and challenges in the industry. The OOWC's participation in Ovibeja has proved to be a unique platform for collaboration and exchange of ideas among industry leaders.
Ovibeja, throughout its editions, has been a catalyst for the implementation of government decisions related to the agricultural sector in Alentejo. The association has played a decisive role in promoting cooperation and collaboration between the various actors in the agricultural sector, as well as in promoting sustainable practices and defending the interests of farmers.
For this first edition, the OOWC program has been divided into eight thematic blocks that cover each and every one of the issues that concern and occupy the sector at an international level, with the participation of leading experts from more than 20 countries.
