The Olive Oil World Congress (OOWC) has already reached the milestone of 100 attendees that will take part on its first edition to be held from June 26th to the 28th at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) in Madrid. The congress aims to become the most important event in the olive oil and olive grove sector at international scale.
For its first edition, the OOWC has the support of His Majesty King Felipe VI as president of the Honorary Committee, along with other remarkable personalities such as the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Spain, Mr. Luis Planas; or Mr. Jaime Lillo, executive director of the IOC, among others.
The Scientific Committee of the OOWC continues to develop a comprehensive program featuring high-level national and international speakers who will address topics of utmost relevance to the sector such as olive oil facing climate change, genetics and crop production, challenges in manufacturing processes: digital transformation and valorization of by-products, product quality and safety, sensory properties, communication and marketing, trade and consumption, and olive oil, health and gastronomy.
Besides, the Executive Committee, integrated by the Platinum Sponsors of the OOWC, encourages operators, institutions and companies to participate in the definition of institutional and organizational matters and key issues of this congress. In addition, the members of this committee will be in charge of coordinating both 'Communication and Marketing' and 'Trade, Consumption and Gastronomy' segments of the program, thus promoting a more enriching participation for all those involved.
Scientific Poster Contest
The Olive Oil World Congress has extended the deadline for submission of abstracts for its Scientific Poster Competition. Those interested in submitting their proposals may do so until May 3rd, and consult the website for the rules and additional information regarding the requirements for the submission of papers on the OOWC website, as well as the composition of the Scientific Committee, responsible of evaluating the quality and suitability of the papers. To do so abstracts should be sent to info@oliveoilwc.com. Authors will be informed of the acceptance of their applcations before May 23rd.
Cultural Program
Madrid offers a wide range of touristic activities. Therefore, the OOWC has prepared a Cultural Program for three days full of outings, tours and guided visits to some of its most emblematic sites and museums. This program will be open to those attending the congress as well as those accompanying a congress attendee. The program includes a Gala Dinner on June 27th at the Real Casino de Madrid.
